I will look for a bait shop in the area that sells shiners and give them a shot. I wonder if they would hit some fresh cut bait also.

With Johns filleting skills and a box of House Of Audrey not to mention his cooking skills there will be some fine fish served up. We just need the fish to cooperate on being caught.

That catching part can be challenging in Mid March. Water temps will be cold...wear your PFD.

Night temps might be a bit cool too. A heater for the tent will help old bones move a little easier. I canít recall the brand of heater but John has one and he put me on a deal in them.

Iím on site 88. Hopefully the weather man can cooperate with some not so cold temps. Hot fire, good food and conversation helps solve most anything.

FWIW... I know this state park fairly well. I led cub scout hikes here every year from 2005-2014. I MIGHT know a few good places to bank fish there as well. If the road is open, take the group camp site drive. Fun! 4WD not required, but in wet conditions a lot easier.

Camping is NOT near the boat ramp... figure about a 1-2 mile drive to boat ramp. Camping is up on the mountain, not down by the lake.

Arrowheads are found frequently in this area... The rock quarried here lent itself well to arrowheads and spearheads. Keep your eyes open. (it is, of course, against state law to take home arrowheads/rocks from the park or to drink within park boundaries)

Sounds like we are going to need a deep fryer & some oil. I hopefully wonít forget to bring them along with the House Of Audrey. Then it will be up to you gents to catch the fish for feeding the pot.

Iím going to focus on Crappie. For those of you with more fishing knowledge than I, the web says that big Cats are plentiful in the Winter months on Lake Tillery.

Some huge catfish has been caught there. Iím going to try for Crappie, a striper would be awesome so will have a rig for them.

Crappie are my favorite, hope there's a bait shop close by so I can get some minnows.

Being on the edge of the Uwharrie National Forest there likely isn't one too close by. Maybe Albemarle or Troy. Better get your minnows about 30 miles out. Aerated bucket is the best to keep them alive a couple of days.
