At the risk of turning this into a 1,000 post thread I am announcing the dates for the New River Smallie extravaganza. New River State Park, 221 Access.

August 2,3,4. Reserve your site now.

Given the state of division in our country I am not sure if I will be allowed to use the Judges Chambers for the Saturday night State of the River Awards Ceremony. I am still trying to get Nancy Carpface Pelosi to agree to build a wall to prevent illegal tubers from impacting our lives. Originally I wanted the Mexican Christmas Tree Workers to pay for it but that didn't work out.

For those of you adept at finesse fishing do NOT use the 4" zoom lizard in watermelon on a 1\0 hook with a tiny split shot. It has been declared illegal by the Judge for prizes. This and other new rules (including Thursday pre float violations) can be found in the 2019 RedX Tournament Rulebook at www.fakenewsblues.com. If you're not sure of what this bait looks like here is an illustration.

I did not realize it had been so long since I was at the New M&G, just looked at past registrations, and it was 2015! I'm fixing that this year, and hopefully my soon to be 14 yo son will be with me on site 30 arriving Thursday. Not sure why, cause I know there has never been, nor will there ever be a Friday float.

So for those Thursday floaters, keep me in the loop about what you're/we're doing Thursday, I hope to make the drive from Bragg to Boone Wednesday evening so I'll only be about 30 minutes away from the campground Thursday morning.

Just talked to my son (handle: saltwaterfisher), he is excited to come along with his old man and the Red X crew for some smallie tail-walking action. I believe this will be his first official M&G, although he has floated the new before with Mikeski, Evblue, another member and myself, the Yadkin below the **** at Kerr Scott with Dbeam, Razor Ray and some others, and has also fished Bay River several times, just not with a M&G. Needless to say, I am very excited to have him along with me.

We shall try.

Having floated this wonderful river for over 20 years I know it well from 88 bridge to the confluence. I believe the Saturday float has the best chance of a big Smallie. Ray caught the largest fish during this event that I remember somewhere on this stretch. Many years ago I fought a fish on this stretch (a mile or so above the take out) for over 5 minutes before he came undone...and never saw him.

I walked into Academy today to get some .40 caliber ammo for my latest addition to my arsenal, a Sig P226, and stumbled into the best clearance sale I have ever seen. It was ridiculous and I gorged on bargains like a smallie on spring lizards. I mention this because every contestant for the Saturday big fish competition must donate an item or two in the prize grab bag, located at whoever has the largest site, whoever you are. Thank you for volunteering to host the group meal. Daze had that site at the last event. However this year if you can't afford it or just don't want to donate a prize, no problem. We are using the Alexandria Ocasio Cortez Socialist method whereby the rest of us donate for you.

In addition there will be extra credit given for supporting The New Green Deal, modified to 'The New Green Reel Deal' for this event. As such contestants employing environmentally sensitive methods will be compensated for those efforts. Arriving in electric vehicles score points, arriving in autonomous vehicles score even more, since, like the country, you won't know where you're going. Other approved methods of demonstrating awareness include filtering water from the New instead of bringing bottles, using pebbles in place of lead split shot, recycling road kill opossum of similar creatures for fly tying (reports indicate that size 20 skunk tail is hot), avoiding the on site showers, warming local vegetative matter on sun drenched rocks for consumption, providing such matter is not endangered (the South Fork dandelion is an example), and bringing an MS-13 member as a guest. Bonus points for tattoos of Joseph Stalin.

Conversely, points are deducted for campfires, flatulence, use of reel oil, possession of plastics, displaying American flags, discussions of the U.S. Constitution and finally, ICE is strictly prohibited.

A small tariff of $2,500 per attendee will be levied to those whose income exceeds $8,500 annually.

I’ll have to get out my bicycle and hook up a trailer for my kayak and battery operated campfire. Might take me awhile to get there but since Alexandria wants my 1995 F-150 at 12 MPG I guess I’ll have to sacrifice one for the team! Or she can pry my veteran hands off the steering wheel.

I'd suggest seeing if you can double up with someone with a tent site reserved already. I'd volunteer mine but my illegitimate son and possibly a friend or 2 is sharing mine. Also there are always folks with reservations that back out last minute. You can grab their site when they post it. One things for sure...Red X Anglers are a sharing bunch
