What weather conditions do you look for in the forecast/surf report when going off shore?

I'm a new PA owner and want to fish the ARs. I'm in Raleigh so Carolina, Topsail, and Wrightsville are the closest to me. I saw it mentioned that the AR off of Oak Island is good for kayakers due to the south facing direction.

I've been to that AR a couple of times recently.

Here is the forecast site I use:

    https://www.windfinder.com/forecast/oak_island

I paddle SUP. I want an onshore breeze under 10. In a kayak, you could handle a little more and you could handle an offshore that isn't too strong. I could also do an offshore; I did at TI a couple of weeks ago. I just didn't like it when it piakced up more than predicted.

I like waves under 3'. I will send you a couple of FB links; not sure about policy on posting them here. I have been out with both groups; they are active and there are members who are extremely knowledgeable.

The AR at TI is pretty good also.
