Anybody hear anything about cobia? Pretty quiet as they're are concerned.

They typically show up in Hatteras a little bit earlier than here because of the way the land juts out into the ocean there-- closer to the Gulf Stream. There are some around down here. A guy weighed a 70 pounder in at Chasing Tails in MHC weekend before last.

Last year that seemed to happen to us on the Crystal Coast. There were a few caught but not as many as the years before and then it was just on up north on the OBX. Been seeing great reports from up there already and just a few around here so you may be right Mumbo.

Scrappy fishing last 7 days from Hatteras to OI. Might see 3-4 fish one day and 0 the next. Wind has been keeping the water "confused." Find 69 water at Rodanthe one day then it blows NNE for a day or two and the water is offshore again. Think we've missed the big push up here. They went by while we were playing the water temp game. At least it seems that way, boys have been seeing big numbers in the Bay already. Have talked to a few that have seen as many as 75 fish in 4-5 hours. Lower Bay is stacked with Cobia according to some of the die hards. Switching gears here and hauling the boat north next trip.
