    Default Cape Lookout didn't disappoint

Despite having 25 to 30 mph winds Thursday evening, I decided to be that guy, and try gigging. The two flounder made it worth it to me, and something that I doubt will ever happen again. What looked like a sick/dead giant perch/brim came by me in 10 inches of water. I gave it a stab, and it came to life. A few hours later I was eating some very good tasting fish. Triple Tail! Apparently they float on their side like a dead leaf when feeding.

Friday was full of nice spanish, and a few blues caught trolling on the inside waters. Friday night was a 10 flounder special with one going 23 inches in 4 inches of water (see pic).

Saturday was all blues on the trolling operation followed by another 10 flounder at night.

    Been eating very well lately!

I wade gig, and I can report seeing very good numbers of flounder in my area! Tons of shorts. Really hoping the regs don't change too much. If anything, I have seen an increase in the last 2 years. Went out in mid May and loaded up as well. Mostly Spanish and blues, which I love, but I guess I am not a picky eater!

Bite was off saturday, but was able to put my dad on the fight of his life with a 5 ft black tip. Foul hooked a hound fish also.

Does your boat have the word Skins on the side & where you Spanish fishing today? ..... ICM

My wife keeps saying I don't listen to her .... or something like that.

I agree with you saltwater Republic. I will say that a fresh fried blue has a better texture in my opinion compared to Spanish. Both are clean tasting when cooked fresh, but Spanish has kind of got a mushy texture to me. I like them both a lot though. Can't even guess how many cook-outs I have supplied fish for, and folks I have given extras to over the years. Good stuff!

ICM, I am pretty easy to spot. No logo on my boat. 19 ft key west with a 150 Mariner.. everything is 1993. Been running it out at cape lookout for the past 9 years. Thinking you fish south of me based on some of your posts that I have seen.
Gonna be styling with a new EZ loader (aluminum frame, torsion axle, oil bath hubs, and stainless steel harware) after tomorrow! Step up from my constantly falling apart 1976 Long I have been sinking money into!

A quick note on my trolling tactics. I never use planers (last ditch effort if bite is terrible) This year I have done really well making rigs that include a buck tail up front (different sizes for different depths (usually 1 oz) with a small clark about 2 ft behind. 50 pound leader. I troll between 6-15 ft of water at speeds much slower than most. Always keep a bird in the center.

What we kept Saturday. Wish lizard fish looked better! I have friends that eat them, but I just can't put em in my cooler!
