Default Looking for guide in Murrells inlet SC

Headed south to Surfside beach SC with family in Aug. I was wondering about the inshore fishing in Murrells inlet if anyone had any advice. I was also looking for a guide to book, any suggestions.

Had someone speak very highly of a guide named Jay Bates. Don't know anything other than it was a good recommendation from someone who knows the area and people well.

I'm actually going down there in August as well, starting on the 14th. It appears I either need to purchase a license for like 3 days, or fish piers only. Have you, by chance, checked into that?

I have fished Murrells Inlet for 3 years with Capt Dan Connolly. O Fish Al Expeditions. I will not fish with anybody else. I fish with him at least 3 time a year. He fishes everyday. He will put you on the fish at a reasonable price. I can’t recommend him enough.

Lots of great guides in Murrells Inlet. The industry is really taking off down there. I could post about a dozen recommendations and Id still be leaving good ones out. Most of them post on Facebooks Grand Strand Fishing Reports. Suggest you watch that page.

Ended up using Capt Dan Connolly as suggested by Lizard. We did well with 2 slot reds and one 25 incher that was larger than S.C. slot of 23” in Pawleys Inlet. Caught several flounder but none big enough to keep as we didn’t want to keep any less than 18”. Dan worked hard for us and was a great time for my 2 sons and I.
