The evening of July 3rd and the morning of the 4th a friend and I were dock fishing in 5 foot of water on Core Sound. We caught a few keeper trout and flounder along with small blues and junk fish. What was interesting was my friend caught a 20" cobia and a 17" tripletail. I had fished the dock many times and never seen a cobia or tripletail caught. Also interesting was everything was caught with a 1/8 oz double bucktail (Sam's Gitter). How often do you ever see Cobia and Tripletail caught in 5 ft of water? We were probably 1/2 mile from 10ft or more of deeper channel water.

Juvenile cobia arenít uncommon, but the triple tail isnít something we see a whole lot of.
