Default Lake James...bad pic, cool story

Messed around mid-morning on Saturday, clouds held the heat down for a bit and kept some of the circus off the lake for a while. Cruising down the bank when I see small shad showering with something small busting over a tree top. Throw a bone Strike King Sexy Dawg and a small largemouth hits and hooks up. Winding it in and see a large bass chasing behind trying to get the lure out of its mouth. Flip the bail and free line for a bit and the big fish hits the lure and I come tight to hook up. Both are on now with the bigger fish taking control. They run in between 2 big laydowns when from the depths up comes a shadow, I look closer and it's a giant catfish just a few feet below the surface eyeing the bass. Slack lined again to see what would happen...catfish just turned and went back down, never hit the bass.

Largemouth went 4.5 lbs on the Boga grip (picture is sideways and terrible). Caught 2 smallies on dropshot and then called it a day. Cool to see, biggest catfish I've seen up there.

Linville Access area has plenty of places to fish from, as well as Lake James State Park if you don't mind walking a little.

It's not that bad of a photo! I saw somebody catch two Bass like that once many years ago but both were small, maybe 14 inchers.

Craziest thing I ever had happen. Having a huge Large Mouth surface like a submarine and pass by the top water lure to check it out. Also had a couple come up behind my lure and bump it with their lips. Years ago before the internet people wouldn't believe me. But there are plenty of other people who have written about the same thing happening. Always with huge bass.

Today arrived late at nine o’clock. almost all bridges are busy. well, okay, I'm on the pontoon. a breeze, though today it was blowing not childishly. I tried, but did not master, but on the third attempt I threw a bucket for garbage into the water. and the pontoon itself was anchored like a cruiser in a raid. the fish was moderately active, had to be persuaded. as it turned out, a large, well, significant, part was stuck under the pontoon, half-water and closer to the bottom. most of the bites I had was very close to him. green-acid lures, and spinners, and rubber, worked for me. chewing gum, butting butters, often this was limited. or escorted the bait to the very feet, but didn’t take it. leg gaiters for hunting but if she took it, then swallowed. almost all fish had to be picked out by hookers. the sun warms, the breeze knocks down the legs, the fish is naughty, but knows the measure. beauty! screwed the sun, it became cool as much as I wanted, I caught it. Well, I went. all high, thanks prudnikami. see you. HikeZone
