Default Anyone know what they are catching on the new river in Jacksonville?

Lately Ive seen a lot of people fishing the bridge on 17 by the downtown boat ramp as well as the 24 bridge near the mouth of north east creek. Are drum or trout this far up the river right now? I thought the trout bite started in the fall/winter

Could be flounder or black drum fishing. But who knows...

Bridges hold bait. Bait brings bigger fish. This time of year the bridges will have a good variety. Like Scott said, flounder, black drum, plus sheepshead (which are frequently targeted around bridges), plus an occasional trout or red drum. Trout bite throughout the spring and summer on the New River. They just concentrate in bigger schools in the fall, plus we get migratory specks from further north that will school up in the inlet, ICW and creeks.
