    Default Late summer expectations

Just moved to Greenville from CA, grew up in Raleigh but only fished the banks then. Now I have a boat. In the summer I know generally they either go super shallow in cover or go deep. Do you guys have more luck going for the shallow bass or the deep ones? In my limited times fishing here on my boat I could only find them fairly shallow.

I suck at fishing deep and always have to find my fish shallow. Might take some work to find them there but they are there where nobody else is looking in the heat.

I’m also bad at fishing deep. My electronics aren’t the best so it is difficult to find deeper structure. I tend to fish shallow quite a bit and always manage to find some fish in that depth. My motto is there are ALWAYS some shallow fish, you just gotta find them.

If you can find good shallow cover that is *near* deep water, that helps in my experience. I've caught some really nice fish up shallow even in August, it does happen.
