Fished Sunday afternoon and definitely saw the cold from moving through, only managed one trout and some short flounder along with a report of a fellow paddlers coming in as I headed out reporting some small drum. The front moved in as I made it to the icw and gave me a solid work out paddling against a steady 20 mph wind back to the ramp.

Fished yesterday for an hour and managed some bigger trout but nothing like last week.

All of mine have been topwater or soft plastics.

ICM/ Nickp do you all fish one area once you find them or have you been moving to find your fish? Most of my fish were coming from three positions in the creek in the same general area but I would pick up a single working shallower areas for drum.

I move around from spot to spot depending on tide, wind direction, presents of bait, boat traffic, time of day.
Try different areas that I have caught fish in previous years on different tides.
Lower tides I'm looking for Reds, lately been seeing / hearing Trout blowing up on Mullets in the strangest of places.
Should be a better year if we can get thru hurricane season untouched....ICM

I do the same I have multiple locations Iíve been catching them. I actually had a tough night Thursday and didnít catch any trout. But managed one stud red and a cobia. All my fish are coming closer to the inlet right now and it looks like the same for ICM judging by the color.

    Trout trout trout, help!
If the drum bite is still slow in the lower Neuse this coming week, how do we locate and catch these magical numbers of trout you all keep touting? We'll have the 3 teens with us this time, so catching fish of any species is critical to keeping them in love with angling. Any and all tips appreciated! I've never caught a speck!

Start by becoming obsessed with catching a trophy fish. Watch every video on the subject. Be on the water everyday for hours.
Buy every lure heard whispered in hallowed places. Attend every free seminar & paid school.
Or just hire a guide in your area to shorten your learning curve.........

Honestly there is no easy one sentence answer. ..........ICM

This is my 27" trophy Trout caught during Dorian. Using the new Trump "sharpie illustration method".

ICM, Gotta love the colors on those sharpie trout.
And I have never had a guide, although I now have a steady income so that will probably change soon but I attribute success to luck and patience.
Managed my first slot red of the summer and a few trout in the post Dorian bite this morning

Water was very stained and fish were coming on dark plastics. Received some reports yesterday of similar success.
