    Default Lake Mackintosh 8/29

I put in around 9. Water was 78 degrees. Started working long points out deep. Got into a pocket between two points about 20 feet deep. Thermocline was 20 to 30 feet down. Found what looked to be a bait ball suspended 10 to 15 feet so I started casting a rapala dives to 16 series crankbait in bluegill pattern. Got hit by a good crappie. My biggest yet! Then caught two perch. Lost track of them after that though. And I cast the lure and it smacked the side of my kayak hard enough it cracked the balsa wood, so maybe they really like that pattern and wouldn't bite anything else. There was a bass cruising around all afternoon smacking stuff on the surface but I couldn't seem to nail him down anywhere. Good day fishing.
