    Default Bowfin

Looking to try targeting bowfin, mostly with frogs, jigs, and inline spinners. I think I have a few places in mind to check out (Rhodes, Robertson, Contentnea) but would appreciate any help anyone wants to give

Iím in Johnston County, for what itís worth

Most of the Blackwater creeks in the NE corner of the state are full of Blackfish. We look for small indents in the shoreline that are shallow and or weedy,or have a small trickle of water flowing. We have caught them on about every kind of lure we have tried, including flies. Bigger baits that make noise seem to be the most effective though,at least for us

Thanks for the posts and PMs. Much appreciated. Was hoping to check some spots out this weekend but last minute I was asked to fly to Colorado this morning for work, so Iím headed there now. So the swamp muskies will have to wait for a week or so

Bowfin will hit anything a bass will, and then some.

Look for, as The Mad Duck says, shallow water with vegetation.

I usually like to go during the week as well. I wonít be back in NC until next week at the earliest though. This flooding out here is keeping me busy
