    Default Hickory 10/1 meetngreet

I met @Newcommer shortly after 6am and we were fishing well before 6:30 and my new Berkley crankbait was consistent until 10am when the bite died.

We put in another hard hour and gave it up. The tally was 3 spotted bass, 3 warmouth and 1 white perch.

Dick took one bass to eat and found a crawfish in its belly! I took a closer look (reading glasses) at my crankbait and was painted like a crawfish!

Time to rig up a jig with a crawfish trailer and hit the rip rap.

I think Dick experienced how different Hickory is from the rest of the river chain. It takes some getting used to.

I'm not going the next 2 days. Too hot.

Nice, Gene. Craw imitators are really good baits especially in Fall in my experience. Slayed some smallies on the New in August a few years back using soft plastic craws, and 'FishFiend' Gene caught a nice 5 to 6 pound chunker on a C-rigged craw at Lucas in early November according to my files, several years back, on rock at the top ledge of a dropoff if I recall.

Good item to have in the arsenal for sure. Thanks for the report!
