I don't do a lot of pier fishing but would like to buy at least one general purpose rod to go fish off the planks along the North Carolina coast once in awhile.
What length, action, line and lure rating would you recommend?
I have a couple I use regularly; a BPS 6’-6” Brawler and a Star Stellar 7’-6” - both two piece to fit in the hatchback area of my sedan. Use Daiwa BG4000 reels on both. Both are spooled with braid line and mono leaders. They give me ease of transport coupled with good performance on the piers - I like them a bit shorter than 8’ - 9’ unless I’m fishing the far end of the piers. OH
I have a few nice Okuma rods which I can usually find for a great price.
