ALL campgrounds and offices at North Carolina State Parks are closed to limit the spread of coronavirus, per the Governors executive order. Boat ramps, trails, and bathrooms remain open during daylight hours. The only option will be privately owned and operated campgrounds—probably at the owner’s discretion.

My wife and I were originally scheduled to go to California to visit grandchildren for this week—we have canceled. We are in that age and health demographic being urged to stay home. I am tempted to join you guys, wherever you go—if you go. But I find myself asking the question SHOULD I go?

so far the national forests are still operating, the campgrounds on badin lake (inside Uhwarrie) are NFS run and remain open, for now.. As for should you go, that's obviously a personal decision, but being in a campground isolates you pretty well, save for the people you choose to socialize with.

I spoke with Norwood Campground on Lake Tillery. They can accommodate us. RV with full hookup is $39 per night. Tear drop is $37. We can put 3 tents per site for $37 per night. They can keep us close together. If we choose to go with them I told them that the RedX anglers will be making reservations. We should all decide asap

The key words above might be ‘so far’. I hope it doesn’t get so bad that the NPS and NFS close down their parks. Another issue is that some municipal governments are closing their ‘borders’ and restricting access to non-residents...at the outer banks Dare County just shut down.

I certainly agree that outdoor activities ought to be relatively safe, and for me being outdoors is good medicine. I camped last week at Pettigrew State Park (Lake Phelps) and had the whole campground to myself the first night, and only one other person the second night. The only visitors I had were the birds, squirrels, and deer that literally walked through my camp.

for anyone who is still interested in "trying" to go fishing the weekend Morrow Mountain was planned (3/27-3/29), we are relocating to Arrowhead Campground at Badin Lake (inside Uhwarrie national forest). It's about 4 miles upstream from Morrow mountain and the fishing can be good. The link to book is:

    https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/233910

    So far it looks like:
    H2ohh - site 5
    Daze823 - 13
    Ted - site 18
Big Len and DBeam - site 50

I made a reservation and they shut it down. Depending on what everyone wants to do Norwood campground on Lake Tillery is privately owned. If everyone heads to the Bay River I値l most likely go too
