Default Anyone shore fish the bahamas?

Taking a cruise in about a month...

One stop is a beach day on a "private island". One option there is to rent a rod (or maybe bring my own collapsing rod).

"Island" is Princess Cay. Shallow water.

I was thinking of bringing some jig heads and DOA/Zman curly tails in white/chartreuse and silver.

No treble hooks for me... I have too much trouble taking them out of a fish without hooking myself.

Any other lure suggestions.... Want small, easy to pack stuff.
After all is said and done.... A heck of a lot more will be said than done

While you might see bonefish there, a much more likely fish would be barracuda. Tube type lure or jointed minnow is a good thing to have.

I was told bonefish are not common in the area. Leaning towards a light, segmented rod and a 2000 reel with 10lb braid... Barracuda would tear that up.

3ft cast net, #8 sabiki rig, 2/0 circle hooks, #2 pinch weights, 30lb leader no swivel, med rod and reel spooled with 12lb mono. Great success!

Too much to pack... Sure will not be bringing a cast net, as I can't use it anyway. And my collapsible rod is light.

The smaller ones would be fun on that rig, just do not cast to big ones. I catch little ones in canals in Florida with Mirrolures, use a short wire leader or it gets expensive fast.
