    Default Fishing for Food

My son and I were having a discussion about the pandamonia that is going on in the world right now. The conversation went to the closing of public places and the idea of what happens if grocery stores have to close came up. I know that while the thought of that happening made me think of how many people would likely find themselves in trouble, I had comfort in knowing that I have the ability to catch my own protein on a regular basis..

I've spend my years in NC learning how and where to fish successfully.. While I am primarily a catch and release person, I am confident that I could obtain a sufficient amount of protein during any period of time that a infrastructure inability to purchase protein may occur..

Kinda goes to support the old adage, catch a fish for a kid and he can eat for a day, teach a kid to fish and he can eat forever...

I'm guessing greed would take over and ruin the fishing fairly quickly if it came to a lack of food.

There are so many huge Tilapia here in So. Florida (Invasive). I can probably feed a few houses on the block with my skills that were handed down to me from the Great Jimmy Houston.

My salt skills are lacking, but I believe I could get it done with time. I might not eat for a few days, but I will eventually get a meal.

If grocery stores have to close then I imagine gas stations and other vital businesses will be closed too. Also hard to imagine that fishing for food would be an idyllic activity - probably be fending off hoards of hungry people. Not a good scenario to imagine. OH
