    Default Shearon-Harris Catfishing

I'm going to be hitting Harris Lake this week, looking mostly for catfish. I'm planning on cut bait, dip bait, and good old worms. What areas should I look in? I have an inflatable boat with a 55lb trolling motor, so I can get from place to place, just not super fast.

you plan to fish day or night? I used to do well fishing out off the points in around 15 foot of water. Alot of boat traffic so I prefer nights

Planning on the day, at least for our first time out there. I'm definitely rigging up some LED pods for night time. I've got a 100 AH battery in it, so there's no shortage of power to go around.

great. Also some folks don't realize that boats with electric motors have to be registered but you probably already know that.

Yeah, I'd read that but completely forgotten. Thanks for the reminder! Hopefully the wildlife agents are still around for in person registration.

My son and I found some cats yesterday afternoon. They were all very shallow in back of coves, talking 5 foot of water or less. Didn't get any bites in deeper water. Best place was under the bridge in the shallow coves on the right. Biggest was a 7-8 pound channel cat.

Edit: bait was cut bait (bluegill) and fresh threadfin shad. Best bite was on the shad but they hit the cut bait some too.

Nice fish! Thanks for the report. Were you on the bottom or suspended?

I think I'll troll around the lake for a few hours tomorrow and then hit the spillway if I don't have any luck elsewhere.
