Between all of the crank baits, jigs, spoons, plastic baits, and other lures I have stuffed into several dozen Plano boxes, I probably have hundreds of fishing lures to choose from. But if I had to pick one that has been the most consistent for catching fish for me the last few years, it would be a #6 Panther Martin Deluxe Fly spinner in orange / gold. I have caught everything from bass, bream, crappie, to bowfin, catfish, and perch on those little lures. With small diameter line and a light / UL combo, you can cast them a mile and never know what you might hook on the retrieve.
I don’t think I have just one. I am partial to an in line spinner and the good old jig/twister combo. Just like the Panther Martin a jig twister will catch anything around.

Rebel Fastrac minnow, non-jointed, green with a black back. Why? Just because this has worked really well for me in the past. Of course, that was a long time ago. Does it still work? We shall see...
5" senko. Prefer black or blue and black. Have caught many on watermelon, purple, red shad laminate. Also have caught bream, channel cats, at least one striper and bowfin on them.
I will break mine down into favorite lure for every season......spring - wacky rigged 4 inch yum dinger in watermelon red flake......summer - red bug trick worm on a shakey head.....fall - spook jr/sexy dawg......winter - Shad rap # 5
My go to is a Texas Rigged worm. 5" or 10". I can almost always get bites on it. I literally never leave the house without it.
And if there's any wind whatsoever, I'll throw a spinnerbait.
It’s really interesting to see the variety of lures listed in this thread. I think there has been very little (if any) overlap so far. I think it goes to show that fisherman are probably a lot more picky about the lures than the fish!
I think it has a lot to do with confidence. Once you find something that works, you tend to stick with it. I know I do!
I will say that it can be fun to try something new, especially if you can get some bites on it!
I’d absolutely agree with that... I’ve been fishing a spot frequently this year that is loaded with bowfin. They were crushing my favorite lure (the Panther Martin spinner), but just for fun one day, I went to try something different and tied on a small Spro BBZ-1 rat that I had bought in the spring. Within the first 8 minutes, I had two bowfin in the kayak. Wow, I thought. Who knew that bowfin loved rats?
1/8 Beetlespin in white or electric chicken or spook jr are my two favorites
