Went to some usual places around 10 this morning. Not much. Ended up finding a school of crappie in 10 feet of water in a cove. Caught 6 and could have caught them all day it seemed. Good eatin sizes. I need to get a stringer. Moved to a main lake point and threw out a lure over a deep point and bam. Caught this fine fish. How long does it take for their tales to heal after spawn? I was curious how long ago this one had spawned. Good fight, jumping everywhere.
It's a pretty good lake. I've been told it's tough and that there a big ones but they can be tricky to come by. So far that's been mostly true. Quiet though.
I've only fished Mack 4 times - skunked twice - and only 4 fish total- but one was the big gal caught early April. 5.68lbs.
I need to dedicate some time there this summer doing some ledge fishing. I think the biggest challenge is figuring out the huge depth changes there. Long flat points too shallow to hold fish - that rather than slowly taper - dive off into 30-40+'
They're there for sure though.
