Had a blast today. Second fly trip and first trout. Started in small creeks and found lots of fingerlings. Some could get the size 14 elk hair caddis. Kept fishing upstream and came to a run and cast the dry fly towards the pool in front and i saw a splash of color dart up toward the fly and dart back down. Kept casting toward the current and the fly got sucked in and I let it drift down under the pool and the fish took it. Good fight. Thats pretty neat to have the fight in your hands. 11 inch trout. What a pretty fish. Brook or brown? I can't tell.

Thanks! After a drift in that pool was done I pulled it toward me to re cast it and he chased it down and my heart stopped. I knew he was in there. I've never been successful sight fishing bass or fishing to an active fish. It was an awesome experience

Sounds like it wasn't just the fish that got hooked!

    Congrats, nice brook.
