Default Dog Days Bassin on the Catawba

A little report. We`re still catchin`em and I am still tired of summer.
Not in the most conventional way lately. For 2 weekends a white, floating worm to the bank has been the ticket. When alot of people are carolina rigging and fishing points -we`ve been banging the bank. Fast retrieve gets the spots for the most part and if you slow down some you get the LMB`s. It`s a beautiful way to fish because you can see the worm from along ways away and see the strikes.
We have been catching some other ways- c-rigging, trolling cranks, and texas rigs.
Poor Bo has been trying to see this picture for 2 weeks, and a couple others.
Met a new guy today- Dave who has a degree in Fishery Science, works for the county doing water quality, and works at BPS. He definitely fits right in and is no stranger to catching fish. Myself, Dave and Bo probably had about 25 today. This is the stretch of river where the 2010 Invitational will be. By October 9th things will be even better

Nice fish Bo! Been having some luck from Killians north ... against the bank with Albino... Same as you, slow retrieve for the lmb. Hope to catch up with you guys again soon.

Nice, that one fish is crazy looking. Really dark lateral lines.

Sounds like a good day - I noticed the fish held tighter to the banks this weekend too. Too bad temps are gonna soar again this week.

Stew-rat, that's a beautiful spot. Nice shirt, too.
    Nice largemouth, Bo.

You must be looking at the Spotted bass I caught today. They are beautiful fish ands one like that will fight more than a 5 lb largemouth anyday.

Yeah, I was talking about the spotted bass. I've never caught one over 7inches.

I definitely AM and have told some of the boys about it. I`ve been wanting to for years, so with your knowledge, this year is a must -do.Once we get past the tourney (which you should be IN I`m all for it and ready for it to get cold.

Come on down and we`ll put you in a kayak and you`ll top that no problem. Norman, Mt. Island, and Wylie are starting to get a strong population of spots. I`m OK with that. Not the size of LMB`s but some serious fighters.
5 years ago I didn`t hardly know what a spotted bass was.

A 15" spot is considered a trophy here in NC. That one you're holding looks to top that. Good job. I bet you've caught dozens of trophy spots out of there throughout the years...
