Shotgun gets pointed at geese mostly. I jump shoot in the yak and most times I've seen ducks I've been too slow or missed! Though I got one last season.
This year I may make a new mount for the Kilroy but I can cover alot more water in the tourer so maybe not.

Just started rigging my new Native Mariner 12.5 Propel. Fished it in last week in Florida, so have figured some things out. Put Scotty rod holders in the front, a couple of 3 rod holder racks zip-tied to a crate in the back. Added a temporary anchor trolley on the port side -- will install a good one later. Haven't decided which fishfinder to buy -- very open to suggestions. Looking at the Lowrance Elite 4x, and haven't decided where/how to mount the transducer. May just start with thru-the-hull mount using plumber's putty. Thanks for any suggestions. // Joel

Here is my Tarpon 100. I have not made many modifications.
    I use these for tackle:

I bought some adhesive velcro patches that I fixed to the hull inside my hatch and the other half to the tackle trays. They also fit well in the little cargo spaces near the seat.

I did the typical eggcrate with PVC rod holders in the back and that works fine.

I have a hummingbird 565 running off of a 12v sealed battery in the front hatch inside of a dry bag. I have the transducer mounted on a moveable arm that I can pivot out into the water or into the boat as necessary.

I also keep glow sticks, headlamps, fire starting gear, and a first aid kit inside a dry bag in the hatch.

I have a folding anchor, and I recently made a pair of marker bouys out of PVC, pipe insulation, and flourescent tape. That video is here http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/ste...lScreen="true"

I just got a 2011 Mariner also. Looking at different rigging ideas. How did the bar work out with the Scotty rod holders?

    Thanks,
    Tom

did not like the bar for the scotty holders. too far away as shown in the photo, plus if long rod butt it interferes with the propel drive. didn't like it behind the seat, either. it's almost impossible to lock down the scotty holders on that round bar; they always slide/twist. so am installing the flush mounts just behind the seat.

Have also purchased a RAM 1" 1/4"-20 ball mount on which i'll install my Lowrance Mark-4 fishfinder.

Got some great ideas from Yak4fish (Philip -- wish i could TAG him in this conversation).

will post updated photos asap -- and look forward to your rigging ideas.

I spent money on the Scotty system as well. I was disappointed in the bait board but the rod holders are okay. If anyone reads this maybe you can show me a better way to use the bait board ( camera , etc. ). Otherwise it seems a bit superfluous.

Sorry Froggy waters for the late response, I had knee surgery so I am just getting back on the water. I love my phoenix, just had someone offer to buy it for $200 more than what I paid and I declined it. Trout season coming around the corner and my knee and yak is ready to go! Thanks for the complimet, I love my set up.

Sorry for the delay, I am going to try using the current screws to hold the rod holders and fishfinder. I am using 2 Scotty rocket launchers and mounted them to a base I made from a cutting board. On the mid ones I doubled up the base on the outside to keep base from moving. On the front ones I added 2 pieces of mahogany to keep the base from turning. So far it works. Didn't need it on the fish finder.Click image for larger version.
