Default Minnesott Beach Bait & Tackle Still Alive

It’s been a while since I have posted anything – been a tough 3 months with health issues – nothing life threatening though.
Locally the fishing has been up and down just like the weather – warm and cold! The local creeks have produced some nice trout in the backs one day and nothing the next. Crazy, just have to keep going and moving. Trout and rock have been caught in New Bern area in good numbers will reports of some nice rock in the 10lb range showing up. And for the rock – DOA has a new bait out called the Airhead that will be the bait for jigging and swimming. I haven’t started stocking yet but will be using next trip. Go to DOA website and see colors and videos of them. I will have some in stock soon. Feel free to call be about rigging.
My wife and I just returned from Florida fishing Sebastian Inlet and the Indian River. Weather sucked – just like ours, up and down temps and blowing. We managed to get out 4 times though. Mark Nichols of DOA let us use the Custom Gheenoe they had at shop and took us in his boat too. We had a variety of species caught including jacks, ladies, catfish, blue fish, snapper, and trout. We evaded wind mainly by wading the flats putting the blow at our backs. Very effective! The final trip found us in a stiff North wind which we were casting into. We had a bonnet head shark and manatees swimming with us – nature at its best. This trip produced the largest fish of the week – a 7 and 9.5 lb trout. Mine, 9.5# x 32” long, was my last cast for our trip. She ate a 3” DOA shrimp right in front of a manatee. It was awesome standing in waist deep water fighting this gator. It would come right up to me and see me – OOPs- and peel off drag. Mark finally got the Bogga stuck making it my largest trout to date. I will be there again though and will work to break my record. The state record of over 14# was caught real close to where I was! Pray for 1 day we can have a fishery as there!!!!!
Henrys changed their show shipping process this year hosing me as a small dealer. My shipment should be here the first 2 weeks of March now. With it will be a large selection of Diawa rods, reels and combos along with an assortment of Rapala and Storm hard plastics. I also have some new size dip nets coming too.
I will be easing back to regular hours 1 April opening a lot in March as well. Call ahead for details/hours.
I will be at Fisherman’s Post Fishing School in Greenville NC on the 9 March doing some seminars and rigging stations. Come see me.
Also, the major headline is my and Gary’s Coastal Catchin’ Seminar set for 29 March has a very special guest in Mark Nichols, owner of DOA Lures. He is a prenominal guy full of fishing knowledge and a mix of BS – like someone else I know! Get your seat soon with a chance too to win one of 2 half day charters and DOA gifts.

Capt Dave, I would like to know if you did a Catch and Release on that Speckle Trout pumped up on steroids. WOW, and CONGRADULATIONS is all I can say, that is an Awesome Trout. Maybe like you said, one day maybe we'll have a fishery like they have down in that area. Might not be in my lifetime but I hope and pray for all of our grandchildren that will follow in our footsteps. Thanks again for the pics and post and look forward to learning how to us the DOA's in March.
