Default Seaview Pier 7/27/13 First King Mackerel

After 3 years I finally got my King.

It ate a live bluefish fished on a king rig at 10:30 am. Short 10 minute fight and then Taylor, Kevin, and Zack stuck him with the gaff.

Weighed 30 pounds 8 ounces by the time I got him to East Coast Sports, mightve lost half to a pound of blood but still got a citation. Measured 48" length and 21" girth.

Lemme tell you, dragging your king down the pier to get him weighed is the best walk you will ever take.

Steaked him out with Zacks help. Kept about 10 pounds and gave away the other 12 or so to the guys who gaffed him and whoever else wanted some. Gunna sear the small individual peices on the right, grill the set of 5 steaks in the bottom left, and smoke and make fish dip out of the big chunk on the top left.

Congratulations on the King. Is that two in the day for Seaview? I saw another smaller one on their Facebook page. Hopefully this turns out to be a good year for Kings, I've never tried King fishing but I'm thinking I have to give it a shot at some point!

Way to go. Now that you got the first one out of the way, the rest will come easier.

Congratulations young man, Glad to see that you have gotten your King, and a nice one at that.
What is next? you have covered trophy bass, cats carp, some monster panfish. I know there has to be another goal on your horizon.

Standing offer for mountain trout fishing if your ever out this way.
