    Default Rainbow Run

We braved the rain and cold this weekend to go after some big bows. For whatever reason the a lot of bows in wnc decide to spawn once the first cold spell sets in. So we decided to hit some spots where we know big wild bows run this time of year. Needless to say we found them. Some spawned out some full of eggs, fish on redds, males with kype jaw. I thought it was going to be a bad day when one of my rods broke in the butt section during a roll cast at the first hole we fished,(Thank goodness for Sage's warranty) luckily I had a back up in the truck, and it turned out to be a blast, made us forget about the horrible weather and broken rods. Fish were caught on big nymphs and streamers. We also caught a lot of smaller fish as well. Biggest was 24" others were in the 19 to 21 inch range

Great fish! Bad weather sometimes = great fishing. Bet that striper in your avatar would enjoy them even more than you did!

Nice fish! Wish I could find places like that near when I go fishing. I haven't caught a trout in months...

If it weren't for the bad weather that weekend I would have been in the Chesapeake Bay chasing those stripers. Went this weekend to Chesapeake and got skunked.

Many, Many, fishless days add up to days like that. Gotta fish any chance you get, and anywhere you can.
