I have described as being akin to the tent in one of the Harry Potters, the actors walk up to 6 man tent open the flaps and step in to this area about 1/2 the size of the Grand Canyon. Only the black hole at EZ is full of tackle.

    First time visiting EZ bait....
Drove past it. Look at the map. "Looks like we passed it... Did you see anything back there?" "NOPE"
    Turn around.
Oh... It's that little gas station sized shop..?
Walk in and walk around. Every time you turn a corner there's somehow another room with every wall covered in tackle and rods and reels everywhere. It's like a labyrinth of fishing gear.

Can you post more info on that? I don't make it to Goldsboro much anymore and I already made my spring trip to EZ to load up with gear but I'd be willing to make a trip in for a shad tournament. Registration...weigh in times? Hows it run?

Thanks. I think we probably would have heard something about it on here if one of them was open.

Just to keep you guys updated that have to travel a little ways, I fished my favorite bank spot outside of New Bern for about 20 minutes the other day and didn't have a bump. The water level and flow rate was perfect for that location but still a little early. I was in the area anyways so I had to try. I'll give them another shot in a week or two.

    THE SHAD ARE HERE!
    THE SHAD ARE HERE!

Chuck Laughridge caught this hickory shad today. He was kind enough to share the news and happily agreed to allow it to be posted online. I cannot disclose what river this was on but get out there and start slinging flies and jigs because it will be any day now regardless of watershed. I congratulated him on the first shad of the year and he humbly replied that several were caught on Friday but he did not get there until this pm.

When shad are around on a calm creek is there some surface activity? Splashing or Vs in the water? Saw some of this going on Friday and didn't seem to be gar. Had a pole with a shad rig that I tried some of the time with no luck but wasn't trying real hard for shad.
