    Dear Mr. Mo,
    \n
    \nThank you for writing \'Ask Dr. H\'.
    \n
\nQuestion 1. No, I cannot see into the future. In fact at my age I can\'t even see in the present. I tie leaders onto my braid by feel. But I can still answer your query regarding how many Red X meet and greets there will be this year.......not enough.
    \n
\nQuestion 2. According to the inventor of the internet and spokesperson for both the Popiel Pocket Fisherman and The Helicopter Lure, Al Gore, says that the first signs of Global Worming have begun already. \'Have you noticed all the robins recently showing up in your yard?\' said Al. \'This is proof that the change in the environment has caused billions of worms to move towards the surface, devouring everything in site with their little worm mouths\'. \'Even more scary are the numbers currently visible after rain and there are Giant flesh eating worms that come out only at night on our lawns only we can\'t see them because, you know, its dark out.\'

    Dear Hans Solo,
    \n
\nThe Captain is an airline pilot as the Good Ship in the famous Shirley Temple song is a plane and not a boat. I took a trip of a similar nature at a Jefferson Starship concert once. That one took me to The Police....but not the band featuring Sting.

    \r\n Dear Dr. H,
    \n
\nIs a bad day fishing truly better than a good day at work? I am pretty sure this is not true, at least in my case. Sometimes when i go fishing, i will get upset before i can even exit my vehicle. (i.e.; too many boats at the ramp, wind is blowing too hard, or i forgot something important at home.) Other than that, you always have the noob tourist sitting in my spot, constant heckling by the DMF when they should be heckling real criminals, and those other guys who choose to use large sections of rope (the "n" word) to catch fish, after they scare them in to a tight circle using the noisiest methods possible.
    \n
\nTake into effect: i work in the medical field, so a good day at work can be mind blowingly wonderful. Imagine getting paid to do almost nothing but look good in a pair of pajamas, while being surrounded by beautiful women all day who endlessly fight for your attention. That is just a normal day at work, so a good day could be epic.\r\n

    Dear Mr. Whitey,
    \n
\nIt sounds like you have a great job, no doubt about it. This is important considering the amount of our lives we spend working (well, except for NCpierman). But better than fishing? I don\'t care if Sofia Vegara in a nurses outfit wants to elevate my heart rate...I still prefer fishing. I do understand your frustrations though. I suggest you raid the pharmacy at your workplace to alter your perspective.

    Dear SSF,
    \n
\nIf 2 Mergansers are fishing it is possible to kill them both by skipping a flat stone. But they taste like Gulp.

    Dear Mr. Skiff
    \n
\nRecognize that there are already chickens on Both sides of the road. Your particular chicken however, crossed when the new KFC on his side opened.

\n I would have never put anyone on the water knowing the kayak had an issue . I am extremely sorry for that .. I would be glad to offer a float on my local waters for smallies largies or any of the many of the other species I have access to around here. As an apology .... but to the comments of misleading or falsified statements on marlin sized gear being needed. Guilty as charged. I might have tried to paddle in front of sir vandam wells a time or two to maintain a lead on him . possibly . I could also have recommended others carry six rods and use 10" soft plastics . But hopefully in comical fun\r\n

    Dear SS Man,
    \n
\nIt is NOT the guy with a tricked out $60,000 4x4 surf truck with external rod holders full of Hatteras Heavers, 90 gallon Yeti cooler and a customized rear compartment with swing out storage and enough tackle to cause RouseD to have heart palpitations. The Zen Master of the Surf teaches simplicity, confidence and oneness with the beach.
    \n
\nHis name is Hung Big Wan and I had the privilege of his tutelage. Indeed, many students feel embarrassed and endure the mocking of others when appearing on the beach with only 2 rods, sand spikes, a 5 gallon bucket, a couple of lures, weights and hooks in a shirt pocket and a cast net. Especially when you pause in a Zen-like state, serenely absorbing the motion of the tide revealing predatory feeding lanes unnoticed by those without Hung\'s intensive training. But their scorn turns to wonder at your mastery of all species. They will not ask for advice. Remember...they already know more than you. They subscribe to every magazine, TV fishing show and internet website known to man. Seek out Hung Big Won grasshopper......feel the true essence of Power...pro.

    Dear Mr. Fish,
    \n
\nThere is much confusion regarding the origin of this saying. Of course the animal erroneously called a woodchuck does not mess with trees at all. He burrows in a den which is why he is properly called a Ground Hog, and he has nothing to do with this ditty. Of course, Dr. H knows the real story. And the answer is fishing related! Imagine that.....
    \n
\nBack in the late1800\'s famous gents such as Hardy and Leonard and Nichols were pioneering bamboo fly rods. Dr. H sold a beautiful complete original BF Nichols 2 years ago to a guy in Tasmania. But I digress. Hanging out with them was a not so talented guy named Charles Wood. Charles, despite his best efforts was always having ferrule difficulties which resulted in the loss of a lot of valuable bamboo when false casting. Charles was caught one evening stealing some of BF\'s supply. BF, who\'s full name was Big Friggin\' Nichols, promptly dislocated both of Charles shoulders. This resulted in Chuck being unable to \'chuck\' wood at all.

    My Dear Fish Fiend,
    \n
\nYour question has caused Dr. H to veer from his normal feeble attempts at comedic discourse. It is indeed unfortunate that many cannot answer this question, at least not correctly.
    \n
\nIt is the early morning smell of a salt marsh and the sight of the shimmering orange ball peeking above the Cordgrass amidst a gentle south breeze.
    \n
\nIt is the quiet gurgle of a small mountain stream weaving eddies through lichen covered stone.
    \n
\nIt is the smokey flavor of a crackling fire on a slow moving full moon summer Piedmont river night, comfortably seated with a rod between a forked stick.
    \n
\nIt is the sound of your child laughing.
    \n
\nMost importantly, it is giving thanks to God for allowing it all.

    Dear Mr. Trigger,
    \n
\nThe obvious answer would be to guide for a living. Dr. H thinks this is a big mistake. Instead of enjoying yourself you are now under a lot of stress to produce for all kinds of demanding people ranging from tourists who think its no big deal to bring their 2 year old along, not to mention the little brat pouring Mr Bubbly Soap in your live well and taking his Power Ranger scissors to your cast net, to the guy who thinks he knows everything questioning you as to why you\'re not using a Bimini Twist. Essentially, your passion has become your job. And for what? So you can spend your money on health insurance and other cost of living expenses? No! This is the new America. Here\'s how to reach your dream:
    \n
\nRenounce your citizenship immediately and change your name to Trigger Gonzalez. Sell everything but your truck and boat. Hang some flyers at a swanky yacht club advertising Trigger\'s Yacht Cleaning Service. Cash business, weekends only. Health Care free. No taxes. You can even fish after work in some Wall Street Banker\'s yacht tender and if you do a good job perhaps even live aboard one. Of course you will likely have to pilot the thing down the ICW to Florida in the winter for the owner and suffer with Peacock Bass, Tarpon and Snook. Life is tough.
    \n
    \nDr. H

    Dear Low Drag,
    \n
\nThe only possible way to remedy this unfortunate situation is if your friend actually wants to catch a fish. If so, this entails the psychologically daunting challenge of putting down the x-box controller, having mommy pack his Lone Ranger lunch box with a PB&J sandwich and a juice box and actually leaving the house. Assure mommy that he will be seat belted in the back seat and that you will check in with her every hour. If there\'s a diaper bag involved Dr. H suggests you suddenly come down with a cold and back out.
    \n
\nStart him off with a 4\'0 Snoopy ML Zebco combination. Its got a much better drag than the Little Mermaid Shakespeare. If the red wigglers scare him switch to a jig. Thank you for spreading interest in the sport.

    Dear Confused,
    \n
\nWhere legal, you should spray some Kreb\'s Own Vinagrette Floatant to help the \'mallow ride high on the drift. Rainbows are quite particular at times and offering a smorgasbord of flavor is the way to go. Be sure to let it swing cross stream at the end of the drift. They often can\'t resist a last minute culinary delight before heading off to the Rainbow Room at the Sand Bar for a night of partying.

    Dear RouseD,
    \n
\nAn excellent question as fishermen are notoriously superstitious. People bringing banana\'s on boats have been left on oyster bars with the forbidden fruit. Raymond Van Dam Wells wore the same hat fishing for years and never washed it. He finally changed to a new one when competing fishermen could puppy-dog him by smell. NCPierman has a full brim camo hat that has been enhanced with so much Finger Mullet slime that he can dip it in Bear Creek and create a chum slick. Manufacturers stay away from the number 13. Ever notice you can buy 12 or 14 pound test line? Boats run 12, 14, 15 feet in length (except for the Boston Whaler, who has a 13 foot model but they\'re from Massachusetts where everything is screwed up). Get caught with a 13" flounder and you will have very bad luck. People with size 13 feet are incapable of catching fish. It goes on and on....
