Default Shortened trip to Cape Lookout

Took my wife, her son, and my daughters down to MHC yesterday with the intention of finding some kings. We got a late start yesterday due to the thick fog and didn't start setting up until around mid-day just off the south side of the Cape. I decided to put a few Spanish and blues in the boat first, so I threw out a Clarke Spoon on a bird rig and a couple of others on 6 oz of lead. Within minutes we had one chummer and a doubleheader going on the two weighted spoons. Those turned out to be an albie and a decent blue. Could not get the lines back in before we picked up another blue and something tore my bird rig completely off. By this time my chummer was in bad shape, so I headed to the beach to drop my passengers off. Headed out back alone and picked up a couple of Spaniards before picking them back up and heading home.

The day did not go as intended, but it was a good one non-the-less. The weather was perfect, there were no catastrophic boat or trailer issues, and we even caught a few fish. I didn't get to the king spots, but I did get a better idea of the the area and how to fish it and I will be back soon!
