Been working on a lot of different patterns lately.
These are tied up for bass. Topwater floater/diver, APDIVER style. I get a lot of use of these. I keep one tied on from spring thru fall. I usually carry 3 flyrod setups in the boat.
I wouldn't worry about them lying to the side too much. Often injured minnows will come to the surface and lie on thier sides. Besides the ones that I fish that that tilt to one side most often produce the most noise.
Secondly, the crease fly was originally designed to be fished subsurface for striped bass and albacore, so don't overlook using them on sinking line, especially, in a good current.
Thanks Scott, and Tom. You've given me some great ideas on what I have been doing wrong, and more ideas on how to tie them up, and fish them for different species. Should work well for spotted sea trout, and stripers. One thing I may have done was to use too small a hook, and should have glued them higher about the hook shank. Not even sure where I have the ones I did tie now, but will tie more up.
