    Default Bull Drum Cooperated

This morning some of us unintentionally came together at a classified kayak launch near Oriental to take out after bull drum. I arrived first at the launch. While waiting for my bull drum sensei to arrive I struck up a conversation with two others that arrived shortly after me. After just a few minutes of conversation we discovered that we were all on this forum and had mutual friends. Shortly after that the bull drum sensei arrived and we quickly took to the water and what a day it would turn out to be. Four kayakers landed eight bull red drum and we had two break offs during the reel them in battle. At the end of the day and after a lot of catching and crap talking everyone left the water with new friends.

Lure of the day was the ole popping cork with an airhead jig topped with some type of plastic. The fish I have below was the second hook up of the day for me with the first one breaking the line off at the jig as it neared the kayak.

Another one of the members that was in the group. https://www.ncangler.com/forums/threa...-of-a-lifetime!

No no it doesn't get any better and you're right about being in such great company. It was a great group of fishermen who looked out for each other and delivered encouragement to each other throughout the trip

Man it was a blast. No idea how Whitey keeps a straight face in his pics because we were all hooting and hollering!

We were about 1/4 mile below you guys and heard all the fun. Nearly came up to join in but we had fish around us. Only one cooperated though. Wish we had joined in. Nice work fellas!

I'm not surprised y'all heard us! The first couple were caught and swampin' and whitey kept it hush hush but Jeff made sure that everyone in the vicinity knee he had an old drum in the boat! I added to the noise shortly thereafter. My report is coming soon

I believe Cody was a little verbal on his first......

It was a great morning with some great people. It's nice when fishing brings new friends together.

Maybe one day we can be as cool as Whitey when he hooks up and puts it in the yak.
