  2. NC Coast
Headed down on Sunday with my son to try our luck. Had a good trip to the Haystacks in early November and wondered if they're still biting. Also considering the Sneads Ferrry (New River) or Swansboro area. Any info would be appreciated. Would hate to disappoint the kid. Thanks. JM

These are two of the fish I caught in the north fork of the New River at the opening of Trout season 2016. I didn't get to use the new Orvis, had to settle for spinning rod. The results were good though.
  4. Saltwater Fishing
Despite dodging rain all night I still managed to pull in (6) Reds all in the 20" and above range on New River not far from Court House Bay. They seemed to be taking to mullet and shrimp and put up a nice fight. Had to finally call it quits around 0530 due to the storm being right on top of me...
  5. Fly-Fishing
I just moved into a new place with my girl about two minutes from the Watauga. I've fished my whole life but last week received a nice 9ft fly rod as a gift and some some flies to get me started. I've done lots of reading and research about the basics and been on the river everyday but I'm...
  6. Saltwater Fishing
I am a rookie flounder gigger and will be at North Topsail next week. Any suggestion of places to try near the 210 boat ramp? I was looking at Alligator Bay, the bay SW of the ramp that is shaped like a mitten, and the bay that leads into Hells Creek. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hit the new river today. My buddy and I started off with our usual 3in senko ( actually it was a BPS Stick-O) with not a a lot of luck, a couple of redeye but no smallies. I then made the switch to one of my "confidence baits", a Camo Powerbait tube with a jig. Shortly after switching, i hooked...

  9. Saltwater Fishing
A friend and I are going to put in from Camp Lejeune down at the mouth of New River. Can I expect to catch any Trout down there? I am still getting used to the area. The last time I asked for some help I ended up catching more shrimp than I knew what to do with out at Queens Creek thanks to...

Sold my boat and gave up largemouths. I grew up trout fishing streams in WV with my grandfather and started wading the Yadkin looking for the "little" bass. I have been going to the Yadkin River near East Bend and trying to expand my horizons. Definitely a Noo Bee so any advice or tips would be...

Hi all, I'm a retired fly fishing guide from MT, #518, and I'm looking to float the New River near Galax, VA. I'd like some info on nearby boat ramps for day floats, camping and motel accommodations, hot flies, etc. I have a wealth of info on the rivers and streams in southern/southwestern MT...
