My fishing grounds are along the eastern shore of NC, mostly from Morehead city to Swansboro. I am a new kayak fisherman, but still enjoy fishing from a power boat. My favorite fish are: red drum, speckled sea trout, and flounder. I have been enjoying targetting and stalking redfish. This is new to me too. I just started fishing from my kayak June 2007. I have a mango colored Wilderness Systems Ride 135 in case anyone sees me out on the water.

How DEE!!! Welcome aboard!
If you've got your calendar for June, pencil in June 28. Druminator's hosting the second annual KFNC Meet'n'Greet at Fort Fisher... It's a great chance to meet a great bunch of folks, and you never know what you might hook into... I still don't, not for sure....

Thanks guys, it is nice being here.
Druminator, I am having a slight problem deciding on where to retire the 1st day of June, or to wait until the 1st of Jan. 2009, but I will make a decision in the next 3 months.
Retirement age is nice, but it seems like one partner or the other in a retirement age marriage is ready to see a doctor. Anyway, I am lucky to be healthy enough to enjoy kayaking.
Still not sure if I can make it to the meet and greet on June 28, but I am shooting for it. If so, I hope to meet everyone there.

Tim, great seeing some of my wonderful friends here. I have learned a lot from the people here and from all my friends, and am open to a lot more of it. I am thinking heavily about getting some carpal tunnel surgery done fairly soon. If so, it will take a while to get back to paddling, but i am hoping it won't take that long. If the 1st one goes well, I'll get the opther wrist done after that. Had this problem for over 10 years now. It affects my paddling some, but some days are worse than others. I had one time that the wind was really blowing and I was in that long stratch back to the ramp at Queen's Creek. Both my hands had gone to sleep, but if I had stopped paddling, I would have been back to the ICW in about 5 minutes.

I had dual Carpal surgery back in 2000. Only thing my first wife ever did right was taking care of me those first 2 weeks since I had both hands immobolized..LOL!
I couldnt beleive how much feeling I had lost in my fingers before until the Dr removed the bandages.. Best thing I ever did! No worries since and even traded the "ex" in for a much better wife!!!!..LOL!

Sundrop, sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread. I hate to admit it, but I failed to notice that this thread was in a different place.
I will only have one wrist done at the time. I am going to see an othopedic doctor this coming monday. I have rthritis everywhwere in me, but I am anxious to see how my hands will feel aftet the surgery. It could be that more of my problems are with the carpal tunnel than with arthritis.

Sundrop, let me know how long it was before you could use your hands to work. I think it will be better for me to just have one wrist done at the time. I was hoping it wouldn't take 2 weeks for each to heal, but I have made my mind up to go throught with it.

I was 2 weeks doing basic things and 6 really being able to abuse my wrists. I actually pulled an inner stitch at 2 weeks lifting a tea pitcher from the fridge. They may use better ways now to do the surgery so you'll probably do better,,,,,,,
