I have been using the product for three years now, I bought it when it first came out, and was one of the first to get it from our Bass Pro Shop. Altough it took me a couple of trips to get the adujustments just right, when I did, it was a terrific piece of Kit. The Sonar shows me exactly what is on the bottom, and how it is positioned.
I fished mostly in Delaware out of Indian River Inlet, and out of Ocean City. At reef 11 in Delaware, there are numerous Red Bird Cars, from the New York City Subway system, and numerous Military Vehicles on the Reef. I can look at the Military Vehicles and tell you exactly what the vehicle is, because I can actually see it on the display. I can also tell you if the Red Birds are upright, upside down, or on their side. I can see the outlines of Boat hulls, rock piles, concrete pipe, or reef balls. I can also see schools of fish or Bait Balls, and after learning how to read the system, I can tell you which direction the fish is swimming in. This is especially fun, because I can stay on the schools if/while they are on the move.
When I got the system, I also got the Navionics Gold Chip. It has most of the Artificial Reefs outlines on it, and When I bought the Navionics Gold Chip, I got a certificate that with the program, and mailed it in to get the FREE Hot Spots fishing Chip. The chip has all of the reefs perimeters marked on it, and all I have to do is plug in the AR materials and coordinates that are dumped there.
A great system, the only drawback that I can see is that in oder for the standard Sonar to get the best picture you can only do about 6 Knots. However, if you have all of the coordinates, you can motor to within 50 to 100 yards of the wrecks, slow down, and switch from the GPS mode to the Sonar mode and You will see the bottom structure. If you use a down rigger, you can also see the weights/balls on the screen. I have gone across wakes of other boats and ships, and was able to physically see the Swirl in the water from the Boat/Ship propeller, which is actually caused by air.
A great system, and I am very pleased and happy that my wife bought it for me.
