Finally made it back down to the coast to test the waters today. My first trip this year and it felt good just to be out on the water. We hit the creeks off the Icw behind Topsail. Water was 57 deg at 7 am and the water was about 18" lower than normal. One of those weird times of the year when the tide is extremely low. We put in at high tide and fished it all the way down. We didn't find any fish willing to bite in the very back of the creeks but we did find a few spikes about halfway. No doubt the rain has pushed the fish down toward the saltier water. Plastics didn't seem to work but the 808 MR17's produced a few. The water temp is good and the fish are there, hopefully it will stop raining and the bite will turn on shortly.
