Advice Needed for Camping/Fishing at Kerr

1566 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  sundrop
This coming weekend (July 14th - 15th) the girlfriend and I plan to head to the Kerr Lake area for an overnight camping adventure. (I got a tent for my birthday, and we want to break it in).

I am bringing my canoe (which I tow behind my car on a small trailer) and plan on doing some fishing. Does anybody have any recommendations for which campsite we should go to? My only real concern is for a parking spot big enough to hold my trailer. Also, can anybody recommend which boat launch is close enough for some potential bass action? Keep in mind that my range is semi-limited with my canoe w/ 2.5hp outboard.

Thanks in advance!

I've never camped their myself, but most of the folks I know that do camp seem to like "County Line" park. The parks around Kerr are designed for camper trailers, so you should have no problem with your boat trailer. Lots of folks bring both a camper trailer AND a boat. There is a wildlife landing just outside the entrance to the park.
Good luck and have fun.

Might be a bit late, but I like the Nutbush area, if coming from the hardware store, use the one on the left hand side of the road, that'll put you under the bridge, and out of the way of a ton of traffic, although there will be some. The site on the point, about 5 sites from the ramp is our favorite, although someone made off with the fire pit :)

Might be a bit late,
I should have been more clear, the camping trip is planned for the weekend of July 14th, so your advice made it in plenty of time...

Thank you for the tips so far!
Nutbush is a great area for a canoe..
