Im looking for some small longnose gar for my aquarium and pond. Has anyone seen any around Raleigh lately? Something <7 inches would be great. The smaller the better. I know the gar have recently spawned but I haven't seem one fry or juvenile. I've tried seine netting, cast netting, and dip netting Lassiter falls at Crabtree creek. A place loaded with gar. I've had no luck though. It's weird. I feel like they should be all over that creek.

Last float I did on the Neuse (a few weeks ago), a couple of guys saw a small one right below Milburnie. So, another vote for the Neuse likely being your best option.

Not sure what kind of water you're seining, but if I was looking for fry/fingerlings I'd concentrate in grassbeds.
That's what I've heard but there is nothing of that sort there. The closest to it is roots and brush, which I have seined very thoroughly. I'm pretty stumped on where they could be. I've seen the mature fish spawning. Just can't find the little ones.
