We have certainly are off to a good start. We expereinced 100% growth over our last meeting and several people mentioned that they have freinds that are interested in joining. Thanks to everyone who came out to share our interest. I had a great time getting to know each of you.

There was a wide array of fishing interests represented from bank fishing to Fly Fishiing to chasing Marlin at the Steeples.

Wellcraft Dave- Brought by some Offshore Tackle to give us a little insight on how to put those Salty Critters in the boat. Dave thanks for sharing your expereinces and knowledge.

Keith Gallaher- wanted to let everyone know that we are getting close to the Fly Tie a thon which will be held on April 28th at Tarheel Fish & Game. Keith has added a Silent Auction to the fund raiser, this year. Here's a list of items to be offered:
Two 1/2 day guided fishing charters (for 2 individuals each) for inshore light tackle fishing (donated by "Chasin' Tail Charters" value ~$225 ea)
Two Otis Elite gun cleaning systems designed to maintain rifles, pistols, shotguns, and muzzleloaders (donated by Tom Carpenter, value $119.95 ea)
Two, 2 hour personal fly tying lessons to be scheduled at a time and place that is mutually aggreeable (donated by Keith Gallaher, value ~$40 each)
One dozen Bahamas bonefish fly selection (donated by Keith Gallaher, value ~$30)
One dozen redfish fly selection (donated by Keith Gallaher, value ~$35

So even if you don't tie you can contact Tarheel Fish & Game or Keith Gallaher to placxe a bid of teh auction items. Please, remember that the money raised is for the March of Dimes and any flies that are tied will either be sold or Donated to the Casting for Recovery organization. Casting for Recovery is an organization that introduces women who have or who have survived Breast Cancer to Fly Fishing. Both are excellent causes to support and we appreciate any support than you can give to the causes. If you are interested in Tying it would be a great time to come by and see how to get started.

Also Keith talked about renewing the Fayetteville Chapter of the NC CCA. Count me In - Keith.

CoachD was telling us of the big Crappie being caught at Rhoades Pond and how much potential the pond has. I believe that several of the group will be following close behind the next time he heads up to the pond.

Thanks to Adam Long, Bob Schmirzke. and Jim Thomas for coming out as well. We had a great meal and met a great new bunch of friends. I'm looking forward to seeing how much our tribe grows at the next meeting.

Thanks Again.:)
See you at the Fly Tie A Thon

Had a good time, and it's really all about fishin! Very diverse styles and definately lot's of interest in not only local fishing areas but interest in coastal areas as well.

I'll scale down a bit next time on my conversation props! (think the chub teaser was too much for this meetin!) But lot's of good topics for sure to cover in more than just one meeting!

Good meeting y'all and look forward to the next meetin! ;)

Backlash, as requested, I'd be more than happy to show sonar examples of structure and will post for sure, Coach D if you have any questions on the area we talked about to access that "secret" fishin hole, drop me a pm and I'll gladly guide ya to where you'd need to be.

Topics cover'd from experience on Cape Fear river fishin, Lake Jordan, ICW and nearshore areas of Wrightsville and Topsail (right up your alley Mike!!), and interests from Fly fishin to dropin rigs for crappie... Dont know about the guys, but I could've gone on all night!

Maybe we can get Keith to demonstrate a basic fly tying deal.. I'd be really interested in how to tie on hairs to jigs and stuff like that... might be able to use fly tying experience there..

Unless unforseen things prevent me from the next meeting, I plan to be there and I'm bringing Martin with me whether he knows it or not! :)

Enjoyed it guys. I think I know how to get to the area we talked about dave. I'll let ya know when I give it a go. Next time I plan on picking brains some more. See ya'll next time.

I see that miror did us in on the picture. Maybe if we look hard we can see dave's reflection next to the flash reflection.

Just wondering. Maybe we should call this thing the Cumberland County Fishing Club. Let everyone know it's not just for folks in Fayetteville. What ya'll think?

These are "unofficial" gatherings of online members. I'm not sure what would be entailed for NCangler.com to develop something official. I would prefer to not incur any type of official liabilites for these gatherings at this time. So I'm happy to provide forums for regional groups to connect, but where it goes from there will be up to the individuals involved. If someone has experience in the forming of clubs and could provide some insight into developing something more official I would be open to learning about it. i just cannot afford to take on anything else time/expense wise at this time. :)

I think the Fayetteville Fishing Club is OK. I think most people will assume that we would happily include anyone from Cumberland County or even Harnett County (Dave) for that matter.I talked to a few folks about this before the first meeting and it was mentioned here on NCangler that there is something to be said about simply being an informal group. I think the gatherings are much more enjoyable when we can get together without all the formality. I'm not opposed to anyone taking the FFC to the next level but it can be a pretty intensive undertaking as officers have to elected, dues collected, by-laws adopted, bank accounts established and the list grows from there. Sorry, if I sound like I'm poo pooing on someone's idea, I just think we're ok the way we are for now.

I had a great time meeting everyone as well. It is good to put faces with names. I hope this will facilitate us doing various activities together. It would be fun to get some informal trips going. I also like the idea of having some low-key information sharing as well.

Hope you can make it out Ed. I vote for us to meet the week before memorial day. If we meet after I may not have any money to come out (gotta love long weekends with the wife):D .
