Started on the water at 0630 looking for bait. Shad appear to be very scattered, nothing caught via cast net for 2+ hours. However White Perch were hitting sabiki rigs in deep water 3 at a time.

The wind was slack in the morning and anchoring only provided one small fish, the wind picked up at 1100 and we began a drift from the railroad trestle near Old Whitney towards the Tuckertown Dam. The first and second drift landed 20 fish between 5 and 10 lbs in 12-15 ft with no breakoffs and only a few missed bites.

The bite changed on the third drift at approximately 1400 with tugs in shallow water and 2 15+lb fish landed in 20-25ft. A huge strike broke 40lb mono above the leader in the rodholder and our suspended live bait had a potential striper come unbuttoned. Several additional small fish were landed in deep water before we packed up at 1600. The majority of the 30 or so fish we caught bit cutbait with most coming on center sections.
