I'm trying to find the number or any info on hours of the bait shop in Weldon across from the ramp. I thought it was called Roanoke River outfitters, but only numbers I can find have been disconnected. Headed up Thursday afternoon and was trying to figure out if I can get there in time to buy bait or need to bring some of my own. Thanks for any help.

What kind of bait are you looking for? Shad or Bass Minnows?

Either. Bass minnows seem to stay alive better.

There is a bait shop I've bought minnows at on Roanoke Ave in Roanoke Rapids. There is also the guy who sells live shad on 158 to your left when you get off 95. Might just be better off purchasing some locally and using a battery power aerator to keep them kicking. I've bought ones from Paul's grocery in Knightdale before.

I will say the shad work better in my opinion. They are extremely fragile though I agree.
