:) Information about deciding to have your reels cleaned. When you oil your reels at the Star Drag and the Spool this is just lubricating the spool shaft and main gear shaft. Reels need to be taken apart and the old grease removed from the main gear, pinion gear and worm gear and re-lubed. The bearings need to be taken out and the dirt and grit cleaned from them and oiled. The drag washers also need to be wiped cleaned and lightly greased so your drag works smooth. It is best to take the reels completely down and inspect, clean, and lube. Include the main gear, pinion gear and the bearings. If your handle does not turn smooth or your spool does not spin as free as it used to, then a good cleaning and lube could help. Now is a good time to have this done before spring season gets here.
