I would like to say to all the Ladies out there, that since I started fishing I have had some of the most exciting relaxing fun you could ever possibly have! Before fishing I was always mad about my husband spending so much time away. I did not know the enjoyment of it at all. My husband has taught me so much about fishing that I am the one harrassing him to get to the lake, river or whatever body of water we can! I am a nurse in an emergency department of a very large trauma center and fishing is what I use to get away from it all and relax. I enjoy learning and the challenge of catching that big one! Would love to hear stories and see pictures or learn anything new that anyone has to tell or share. Oh yeah! Hookeye and I are going to be grandparents in Aug and look forward to passing along the enjoyment and experinces of fishing!

Oh no! another one let in on one of the male secrets of relaxation!!!! ha ha ha hah ....;)

My wife so, so, kinda likes to fish when it's what everyones doin, she's not beatin the front door down to go.. but my sister (check out some pix in my album on here) whole different story.. her and I grew up fishin and it doesnt matter rain, crappy weather, fishin off rocks, a boat or spear gunnin them she's all about the sport.

To be honest, I never really gave it a second though of her as a "female" fisherman.. as she's always been my fishin buddy whenever it was time to go wet a line.

I'll tell ya this though,, she know's a heck of a lot more than her husband does and she can sure hang in there with the best of them especially in the offshore game.

Now the relaxin part can be ok, but we usually end up arguin about somethin... her not catchin enough, or I hog the honey spot, or how I sabotaged her rod/reel/line/rig or somethin... but see the trend... somethin "I" did, not what she might of done! :) ha ha ha haha h....

Fishin is great and a great way to spend time with family be it husband, wife, brother, sister, son, daughter, grandparents... and friends... sadly it seems... dont get to do it often enough.

Like you I enjoy learning as well, fishin is such a general term and so many different areas/locales/techniques to learn it's interesting to see/read or even try other types of fishin. Experience learned and shared is definately experience gained.

A question for you...how do you get your wife to go with you and give it an actual try. My wife went with me one time and it was very short lived. We stayed maybe one hour and that was it. Just asking. Boats are out of the question as she has a phobia of being on water from something that happened in her child hood.

My wife enjoyed one evening walking down to the neighborhood pond and watching our son catch bluegills. I've got a buddy who's trying to convince her to tag along on a pontoon boat sometime (big, slow, railings all around). She's still overcoming a near-drowning from an accident when she was in college. Patience and prayer are my best suggestions.

I brought my wife fishing once, but she got mad when I threw her over board and called her bait. j/k My wife does love to go boating and casting a line for a quick minute but she looses intrest to easily...never really willing to learn. However she does show great intrest in learing to fly fish, I only wish we were a little closer to some great mountain water! Love them trout!!!

Well, as far as I can say (being the wife) that I use to get so mad at my husband being gone fishing all the time and never spending any time with me! So one day I thought that I'm going to go and see what this is all about! My husband took the time to teach me everything he could. Learning new things being one of my passions sparked an interest. Then came the challenge of actually catching a big large mouth! (another passion-challenge) Finally was the excitement of the catch! This is what got me hooked! Three of the greatest passions of life. Now my husband has stepped it up a level and is teaching me all about hunting! The time we get to spend together fishing, hunting, and being best of freinds is priceless! try finding her passions in fishing. Maybe try adding to the fishing. In addition to a day of fishing include a picnic or whatever she would enjoy doing. the best of luck! Hope she joins you in this great passion of life!

My wife would never consider goin huntin.. What's good though, my hunting and especially with my boys, it doesnt bother her.. she just doesnt want me skinnin deer on the back deck anymore, so I built a deer hang out back.

Wow, that's great! As you already know with fishing, we have a great state to hunt and fish in and a beautiful state as well. If you ever get the chance to hunt the Uwharries,, give it a shot.. it awsome out there. I'm amazed everytime I get off the beaten path over there.

Spring gobbler season comin up Mar/Apr!!! ;)

I'll take the Good Wife fishing anytime--NO HUNTING !-- After 52 years of marriage, there's no way I'm going into the woods with this woman carrying a loaded gun. I've overheard her tell to many people that if she had just killed me in the beginning of our marriage, she could probably already served her sentence and be out of jail by this time.

Later, Forrest

Specreck, Wow, I would think Bladen would be slap loaded with deer. I see them all the time when goin down 87 to Wrightsville. Along the side of the road, out in the fields...

That was my boys first squirrel... was pretty exciting.

I hunt Shearon Harris and US1 area, Buckhorn, Jordan lake area (south part), Uwharries, and private property in Asheboro and family proper in Winston-Salem. (I like to hit all the season starters! ha ha ha ha) ;)

My favorite place to hunt is Uwharries (Dennis/Walker/Horsetrough mountain area).
Second favorite is Harris gameland
third would be Winston... (season is pretty short for Forsyth Co.).

Pender, Bladin, Chatham, Montgomery are all solid deer hunting countys.

If Randy doesnt mind, here's a link you can check out or add to your favorites. Good info and the folks on there, just like this site, are very supportive and quite helpfull... which is kinda unsual as hunting seems more "competative"....

if you get a chance to scout prior to 07 season, drive up 87 to 42 and take 42 over to Harris and Buckhorn gamelands. Lee county game lands are pretty much decimated by logging (Harris is "getting" that way). Jordan off US1 would be a good place too.

Get maps in the NCW hunt book or online. If you'd like specifics.. hey.. let me know.. I'm up for doing some scouting.

Uwharries though.... I love it out there and it's 'bout a 45 minute drive from the house here as I'm right off 27/87.. shoot down 27 and make a right before Tillery/Badin lake bridge, go up 4 miles or so and the access area right there on the right. HERDS of deer... not the onesy twosey's... really impressive.

Sorry to hijack the thread there.....

Thanks Wellcraft!! I missed dear season here this year, I've mostly gone after small game in Bladin. True though, I've seen lots of nice deer there. I do most of my dear hunting in Iowa were I'm from, not much has topped it yet. You can't beat shooting a dear that weighs over 200lbs every time! Uwaharries looks like a great place to do some scouting next year. I love it there!! I can't wait to do some bass fishing in that area this year. I've only driven through there a few times with my wife and baby, but it's def. on my todo list.
