Big black drum on 4000 shimano sedona.

On Sunday, we were out by Shark Island at Cape Lookout shoals and came upon what we thought was a bait pod. But it was a ball of 40 to 70 pound black drum. I threw a gotcha plug at them and immediately broke off. My 15 year old buddy, Tanner had one on that broke off. I threw a jig with a strip of fresh bluefish and immediately hooked up. This was on a 4000 sized Shimano Sedona with 14 pound test.
45 minutes later it was done. This was an awesome fight!!!

Gaff with no point

We used a gaff with no point just to take the picture. The fish swam away with no harm.

Whats up Pro!!! Man that is one huge black! Congrats man!!
Sweet! A 71 was weighed in at island tackle last week. Not sure why it was kept but I applaud you for releasing yours back into the gene pool!
Nice work! Check out this link from some boys in Hatteras they found them this past Sunday as well, on some shoals around Hatteras. I wonder if they are still hanging around? http://www.saltminded.com/monster-black-drum-kayak-video/
