Hey don't see many threads reguarding blue creek. I know specs go up in it in the winter and wondering if they are still lingering up there. If not I figure I should be able to target some bass/crappie. Anyone knowledgeable of that stretch of water?

Specs will be in there all year from what I'm told. I've only fished it briefly not long enough to get a good feel for it

Far western portion of new river, over by the USO.

How far up should you go? You should go past the fish camp?

I'm not expert but the creek actually runs all the way to richlands. I imagine specks go pretty far up in the winter, I've seen lots of people on the main section from the USO and a few miles up the creek.

Blue Creek actually runs under 258 and ends before you get to Pony Farm Rd. if you make it to Richlands, you stayed in New River. You can see in Google Maps where Blue Creek runs west while New River continues northwest. https://www.google.com/maps/@34.7641549,-77.46223,15z

There is actually a nice kayak launch on Blue Creek, but it's a bit of a haul from the parking area.
