I'm looking for a nice secure lot where I can store the boat and trailer somewhere around Morehead City, preferably on the mainland in case bad weather blows up. Anyone have any recommendations? The fuel cost is killing me trailering every weekend or so for 250 miles one way.

A good way to save a little $$ is to consider somewhere farther inland along the route that you generally take to Morehead. Storage lots outside of the "hot" market will be less expensive....and somewhat safer from Hurricanes... Just a thought...

Thanks for the advice Drop... since my post I've been letting my fingers do the walking. I've found one place that has covered storage for $135/Month and another off Hwy. 24 that has parking for $40/Month that I thought was very reasonable. I was hoping to get a few testimonials from someone that is satisfied with their present storage location.

I think my tackle monkey has evolved from a cute Capuchin to an ugly butt gorilla. Just lookin' to cut the deficit. A couple of trips a month will pay for that $40 storage... easily! But on the second hand... a couple of nice trolling rigs might be in order. Hmmmmm Now see what you've done! [LOL]

BASS magazine recently had a column in which the columnist went to the storage yard to pick up his boat and discovered that it had already been picked up. I'll have to dig for it to learn what he did in response to it... but you might want to think about the insurance and other ramifications about the possibility of theft or vandalism while it's on the storage lot...

It occurred to me that I might be willing to pay a little more for a lot that keeps a video any time the gate is open, and a record of which tenants came at which times... If I were to get into that market, that is...

The idea of theft and/or vandalization has entered my mind. I do have insurance although that never ever tuly compensates you for the aggravation and loss of sleep. If/when I find a home for her, I thought of looking up the crime statistics for the area to at least have some peace of mind. I agree, you get what you pay for.

There is a place on Bridges street that was fairly reasonable when I stored my boat there a few years ago, the owner kept his yard locked and gave me a key for after hours access. I since put my boat in a marina to not have to tow. Send me a PM and I will give you the Name and Phone number of this operation.
