Hi all, have enjoyed this forum and a lot of great posts. Would love some advice on good access points and locations in the vicinity of Carolina Beach to take my 14 year old son inshore kayak fisning this weekend. Thinking the surf might be dead but we may try it too. Any advice is most appreciated!

Surf is never dead. It may take a little more effort to find fish & well worth the effort.
At Fort Fisher you can buy a day pass to drive on the beach or launch your kayak in the back bays.
Make sure to call there for details....... ICM

Take 421 South until you run out of road. Drop your kayak and park. Excellent fishing along the rocks and throughout. Head directly across to Zekes Island. There's a small beach where you can take a rest, explore, have a snack. Back on the water, follow the grass line and you come across several great places to fish. Very few boats out here. Great for kayaks!

Another spot is Snows Cut boat ramp but be prepared for a lot of boat traffic.

Lastly, Carolina Beach State Park marina. Just off the beach on the CF River south is a artificial Reef. It's outlined by buoys.

IMHO - These are listed in the order of best fishing spots.
Your results may vary.

There are many other areas but these are easy access and productive.
