Fished the inlet and artificial reefs nearby Monday thru Wednesday. Spanish Mackerel. Black Sea Bass, Speckled Trout. Good three days of fishing. Wednesday's morning fog didn't burn off until lunch time. Very thick 1/8 of mile visibility all morning. Spooky with horns blowing and not able to see crap. Water temp 70 and great weather for the end of October. Fish-On!

Fished CB inlet Wed & Thurs. skunked both days.
Did you catch your limit or just that one Trout ? Was it on live Shrimp? ......ICM

That inlet is awesome. It's on the border of what my jon boat can handle. Frankly, it's probably more then my boat should be in when the water is flowing. I only go on an incoming tide so I don't have to worry about getting pulled out to sea.

I am amazed to see kayaks out there with current so strong.

I was fishing lower Cape Fear Saturday. Wind was pretty nasty. Very first cast resulted in a trout. I thought it was going to be a great day fishing. While I still had a great day, the results weren't great. I headed into a creek and caught a black drum.
The wind chased me off the river so I ended up on the ICW and managed a few reds. Ran North to the inlet. I tried at least 5 times to anchor on the inside of the inlet on the north side. It wouldn't grab. The water flow was strong and the bottom was hard. On every attempt, the anchor just dragged along.
Any suggestions on how to anchor in those conditions? Very frustrating and I could literally see the fish underneath the boat.
Finally had to give up.

Add more chain when you want to anchor in strong current. Like 10' or more...... ICM

I will give that a try. I already have some extra chain so that's a bonus.
