Catching spotted bass on the jig from neighborhood dock..

On Sunday, and again last night after work (I love daylight savings time!!!), I walked down to the neighborhood dock on LKN, and tried to catch some fish.

On Sunday, I threw some crank baits and jerk baits without any luck. Nothing on an artificial worm (that's usual for me, though), and generally nothing, until I started jigging. I was using a feathered crappie jig with a flashing spinner blade. Caught 5 spots quickly, no more than 2 feet out from the docks. Ranging from 9" dinks to 15" 1.5 lb fish. (Again, someone contact NC wildlife, a 15" spot is NOT citation worthy).

Last night, I had an hour to kill, so I walked down with just my jigging pole. Caught this nice spot, about 16" (that's my work shoe in the pic, it's a 15 EEE)

Having fun in the new neighborhood.

Just think, a few years back Len didn't know what a bass was, much less catch one. Now he is about to be the master of deception on that lake catching all those bass.

"good luck" save a few for Adam...:) or is it the other way around?
Adam is only marginally interested in fishing these days. He's unfortunately contracted a bad case of teen angst and spends most of his days sulking and angry at the injustice of being a teenager with chores and expectations placed upon him that interfere with his playing minecraft and texting. Right now, I am afraid that I'm a failure as a father to him. He's starting to feel his oats too, at 14 he's almost 6' tall and 150 lbs of bad attitude. Half the things he says to me would get an adult punched in the face if they said them to me. Hoping he grows out of it, but I don't have much hope for the short term.

But yeah, 4-5 years ago, when I joined this site, I hadn't held a rod since I was 10 or so, and then only rarely. I got into fishing to support Adam, and found that I liked it. It took me a year of trying to catch my first bass, now i catch way more bass than anything else.

Nice job, I'd like to see that jig....maybe a marabou style roadrunner??
They've been in my tackle box for a while, so I'm not sure, but when I looked up the lure you mentioned, that's what it must be. That or a clone of it from Walmart or Gander Mountain.
