I will be down at Carolina Beach this weekend if anyone wants to get up and fish. Maybe fish the inlet down at Ft Fisher or go BTB on the North End. Float some bluefish off the yaks for some possible kings. Would rather not do it alone. Plus its always fun to meet new people! Will probably be on the north end at night shark fishing from the beach too.

We're holding a kayak tourney at the Fort on Saturday and a few of us are going BTB off Oak Island on Sunday...if the kings/cobia aren't around we can paddle out to the reef. You're welcome to come out and join us for either. PM me if interested.

Hate it didnt work out for you Sunday to get up and fish. I ended up Sunday and Monday fishing the surf at Ft. Fisher near Crossover 3. We didnt catch a thing. No baitfish or anything. I met some guys that were shark fishing on teh surf so we set up right there with them and i paddled two grouper heads out, one about 300 yards and the other about 700 yards off the beach. They had cow nose rays on for bait. No hookups for us Sunday or Monday. I fished with cut spot, shrimp, mullet, on my smaller surf rods. None of us could even catch any bait at all. The weather was nice at least and the beach wasnt terribly bad being a holiday weekend. I made sure to stay away from Freeman Park though. I know it was nuts. Hopefully the water is still just a little cool. May is normally a good month for shark fishin but I know winter was a little harder than it has been.

Saturday was tough for the tournament the wind blew hard as you know. Only one slam was caught and there were a lot of zeros including me. On Sunday we went back out and landed some nice red around 25 inches.. My buddy that went off sure at Oak Island only caught a shark and some croaker. A different friend said he went off shore at Ocean Isle and call Spanish and lost a cobia.

Spanish were close @ Ocean Isle on Friday and Sunday. I was close in on a boat, but they were deep. Bait was deep too. Only saw one Pogy school from top of water by Sunset beach bridge on Sunday and one from the beach on Saturday.

I going down to CB mid July. Hopefully the fishing will pick up and I'll do alright while I'm there. I plan on trying my luck in the shallows on the Cape Fear side of Snows Cut. I figure there might be something decent in there and I won't have to worry about boats except for crossing the channel.

I'll also try out my usual spots at Fort Fisher, the CB Boat Basin and maybe head up to Trail's End for a day.
